Pictures of the deceased, murals, flowers, the wearing of black are all inconsistent with the religion of Islam and discouraged and/or prohibited during Jinaza services.
Effective June 2026, the Greater Sacramento Muslim Cemetery has implemented an additional fee of $1,000 for headstones. Families are to pay this fee directly to the Cemetery administration.

“The Messenger of Allah said: ‘Whoever follows a funeral and offers the funeral prayer then leaves, will have one Qirat reward. And whoever follows it and offers the funeral prayer then stays until the burial is completed will have two Qirat of reward, both of which are greater than Uhud.”

Abu Huraira reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: Who amongst you is fasting today? Abu Bakr said: I am. He (again) said: Who amongst you followed a funeral procession today? Abu Bakr said: I did. He (the Prophet) again said: Who amongst you served food to the needy? Abu Bakr said: I did. He (again) said: Who amongst you has today visited the sick? Abu Bakr said: I did. Thereupon Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: Anyone in whom (these good deeds) are combined will certainly enter paradise.
